Our experience

Experienced Food Service Dietitians

Led by Kate Stoker and an experienced dietitian team, Simply Nutrition Dietitians has completed a high volume of aged care menu reviews for small and large organisations across Australia, including remote and multi-site providers.

Kate is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Director of Simply Nutrition Dietitians. Since founding the business in 2011, she has grown the team to support aged care providers, food service organisations, community programs and health services across Queensland and Australia-wide via telehealth.

The team brings practical experience across food service nutrition, catering menu review, nutrition analysis, menu audits and compliance-focused food systems. Kate has also worked with Nutritics, supporting nutrition analysis and food service systems across Australia and New Zealand alongside food service providers, hospitality groups and corporate stakeholders.

We also support organisations with broader food service menu consulting and workplace nutrition projects through our corporate nutrition services .

We understand the real-world challenge of turning aged care standards and nutrition requirements into menus, recipes, food orders and systems that busy food-service teams can actually use.

Common questions

Aged Care Menu Review FAQs

Answers to common questions about aged care menu audits, compliance assessments and supplier reviews.

Do aged care providers need a dietitian for menu reviews?
Residential aged care providers must have their menus reviewed at least annually through a menu and mealtime assessment completed by an Accredited Practising Dietitian. Other aged care and community meal providers may also benefit from dietitian-led reviews to demonstrate nutritional adequacy and support their applicable meal requirements.
What does an aged care menu audit include?
A menu audit may review nutritional adequacy, portion sizes, variety, recipes, special diets, texture modification and alignment with the requirements that apply to the service.
How often should aged care menus be reviewed?
Residential aged care menus must undergo a menu and mealtime assessment by an Accredited Practising Dietitian at least annually. An additional review may be appropriate when menus, suppliers, resident needs or service-delivery arrangements change substantially.
Can you review an external meal provider?
Yes. We provide independent reviews of third-party meal suppliers to assess nutritional adequacy, quality and suitability for residents or community meal clients.
Can you review texture-modified menus?
Yes. Our reviews can assess texture-modified meals, snacks and beverages, including menu variety, nutritional adequacy and alignment with relevant IDDSI texture levels.
Can the menu review be completed remotely?
Yes. We work with providers throughout Queensland and Australia using telehealth and remote consulting. On-site support may also be available depending on your location and project needs.
What documents will you need from us?
This depends on the review scope. We may request menu cycles, recipes, portion information, texture-modified menus, special-diet information, supplier specifications and relevant food-service policies or records.
Will the report identify corrective actions?
Yes. Reports clearly identify gaps, risks and recommended actions. We prioritise recommendations so your team can focus on changes with the greatest compliance or nutritional impact.
